The house fire at 316 Market St. in Tamaqua earlier this month that displaced five residents has been ruled accidental.
Tamaqua Fire Chief James Connely said he spoke with state police fire marshal trooper John Burns on Wednesday, who ruled it accidental. Connely said the fire started in the second-floor rear bedroom and is of an “undetermined cause.”
The 2:38 a.m. fire had firefighters from the Tamaqua Fire Department, the Tamaqua Police, Tamaqua Rescue Squad, Tamaqua Ambulance and the Carbon County Rapid Intervention Team respond. Residents were alerted to the fire by the smoke alarm. Damage was estimated at $15,000 to the home and $5,000 to contents. The home was not insured.
