Blue Mtn. Resort to close for season on Sunday

After a successful showing, Blue Mountain Resort is prepared to close for the season.

Ashley Seier, marketing director, said the 2020-21 season will end at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Seier said the ski season began on Dec. 11 and provided 107 days of skiing and snowboarding.

She noted that in previous seasons, closing day was celebrated with the popular pond skim event.

However, due to COVID-19, she said the mountain will not be hosting the pond skim this season.

“We just thought it was in the best interest, still abiding by social distancing, to cancel that for the year,” Seier said. “We’re still encouraging people to come out and tailgate, hang out with our cohorts and celebrate how great the season has been.”

Instead, she said Blue Mountain is encouraging skiers and riders to celebrate on the mountain with their cohorts.

As ski season comes to an end, Seier said Blue Mountain is already preparing for green season activities.

“It’s been a great season; of course Mother Nature provided a lot of help with near-record snowfall totals,” she said. “We were just happy to provide an outlet for people to get out of their homes, and to discover the outdoors.

“We’re looking forward to continue to provide safe outdoor activities throughout summer as well,” she said.

In May, the mountain will reopen for camping/glamping, hiking, downhill mountain biking, high ropes course, zip lining, rock climbing and more outdoor adventures.

Slopeside Pub & Grill, the mountain’s full-service restaurant, remains open year-round.
