Tamaqua Borough’s Superintendent of Public Works, Donald Matalavage, has been appointed acting borough manager in the absence of Carl A. Barry, who is recovering from illness the past two months.
Matalavage, a resident of 131 Market St., Tamaqua, has been employed by the borough since 1963 and has been instrumental in coordinating efforts in the public works system.
He was initially employed at the sewage treatment plant and was promoted to the superintendent’s position in 1969.
Matalavage has extensive knowledge in the operations and maintenance of the community since he is a native of the town and has worked in all phases of the community’s operations.
