A 10-mile police chase on Wednesday morning that crossed multiple jurisdictions resulted in the driver fleeing from officers.
State police at the Frackville barracks said it began around 11:30 on Walnut Street in Ashland when they attempted to stop a 2002 Subaru sedan driven by Charles A. Brilla, 28, of Schuylkill Haven, for a registration violation. Police said he failed to stop and the pursuit ensued.
Police said Brilla drove recklessly through an active work zone, endangering several construction workers. Police said at one point, troopers from the Schuylkill Haven barracks were successfully able to deploy stop stocks which deflated two of the vehicle’s tires, but Brilla continued for about a half-mile after the tires were deflated, before the vehicle exited the roadway and traveled onto a dirt trail.
Shortly after leaving the roadway, the Subaru became disabled, police said, and two passengers in the vehicle were taken into custody.
Police said a search of the area yielded negative results for Brilla, who police said has multiple active warrants issued for him.
Police are asking anyone who has information regarding Brilla’s location to contact them at 570-874-5300.
