Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton (Bowmanstown) holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin. At 9 a.m. is a traditional service and 10:30 a.m. is a contemporary service. They have four options of worship: in the sanctuary, in Leah’s Room (masks required), in the parking lot (FM 104.3), or Faith Alive-Facebook Live. In the event of inclement weather, the delays or cancellations will appear on Channel 69 News WFMZ.

The Holy Week Worship Schedule is as follows: March 28 at 9 and 10:30 a.m. - Passion/ Palm Sunday

April 1 at 7 p.m.: Maundy Thursday with Communion.

April 2 at 7 p.m.: Community Good Friday Service.

April 4 at 6:30 p.m.: Easter sunrise service held outdoors.

April 4 at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.: Resurrection Sunday worship services.

DVD Bible Study “Anxious For Nothing” by Max Lucado is held every Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Bible Study “The Church in Babylon” is held every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Adult Bible Study will be held March 25 at 2 p.m.

Youth Group “Impact” will meet March 21 from 6-8 p.m. All youth 12 years of age through 12 grade are welcome.

ABC Food Pantry is collecting food to stock up the pantry for needy people in the community. All monetary gifts or food will be welcomed and appreciated.

The Mission for March is “The Gathering Place” in Weissport. Their mission is to keep their facility open for use by faith-based groups needing space to do their mission work, create outreach programs, and support the needy locally.

Fish fry tickets

Stop by the Aquashicola Volunteer Fire Company for your tickets for the Annual Good Friday Fish Fry to be held April 2 from 3-7 p.m. Stop in Friday or Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; or Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. This will be a drive-thru event and you must purchase your ticket by March 22. They will not be selling tickets the day of the event.

Living Hope Lighthouse Church

Living Hope Lighthouse Church, 705 Third St., Palmerton will hold Good Friday Service at 7 p.m.

An Easter Sunrise service will be held at 6:45 a.m. on April 4. It will be held in the borough park gazebo. There will be hot drinks and a light continental breakfast available in the gazebo. If the weather is bad this service will be canceled.

Easter worship service will be held at 10 a.m. in the church sanctuary.

Palmerton library

You can now make appointments to shop the book sale. They have books, movies, puzzles, etc. Appointments are for 45 minutes and you must wear a mask in the library. Call the library at 610-826-3424 to make an appointment. Space is limited.

The library is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays by appointment only. Browsing appointments are 30 minutes each and computer appointments are 45 minutes each. Please call the library to schedule an appointment. If you need photocopy or fax service you do not need to schedule an appointment, but please call ahead since the number of patrons allowed in the library is limited.

Curbside service is still available. You can request materials for curbside pickup by calling the library, logging into your library account at palmertonarelibrary.com, or by emailing your request to palmertonarealibrary@gmail.com.

Jerusalem UCC

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Palmerton (Trachsville) holds worship services Sundays at 10:30 a.m. Through the end of March, services will be held in the sanctuary with limited seating. Social distancing and masks are required. Supply Pastor Don Quayle will lead the worship.

You may also remain in your vehicle in the church parking lot and listen to the service on radio station 95.5 FM. The service will also be livestreamed on Facebook at 10:30 a.m. The service will be recorded for viewing at any time at your convenience on Facebook or the church website.

Holy Week schedule is as follows: March 28, Palm Sunday, worship is at 10:30 a.m.; April 1, Maundy Thursday service will be held at 7 p.m.; April 2, Good Friday Tenebrae Service will be at 7 p.m.; and April 4, Easter Sunday worship services will be at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

There will be no community Lenten services this year. The spring filling sale has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Breakfast

An all-you-can-eat breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club, 525 Club Road, Palmerton. Menu items include eggs to order, potatoes, pancakes, SOS, toast, cereal, hash, ham, bacon, sausage, OJ, coffee, tea and milk.

Masks are required upon entering and moving about the building.

Council meeting

The Palmerton Borough Council will be holding a public meeting at 7 p.m. on March 25 at the Palmerton Borough Hall, 443 Delaware Ave., Palmerton.

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny will be held March 27 at the One Ten Tavern, 110 Delaware Ave. with seatings at 9 and 10:30 a.m. Cost includes breakfast buffet, kids egg hunt, and photos with the Easter Bunny. Call 610-826-3333 for reservations.

Nearly New Shop

The Nearly New Shop, Delaware Ave., Palmerton has new hours of operation. They will be closed Mondays. Tuesdays are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Wednesdays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Thursdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Fridays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Hope you take time to stop in. They have a lot of beautiful clothing.
