Schuylkill County to upgrade government website

The Schuylkill County government website is getting a makeover.

Commissioners voted last week to spend $23,845 to have Revize Software Systems of Michigan redesign and hosts the site.

The sales agreement includes “project planning and analysis, discovery and design, template development, testing, site map development, content editing and site administration training, site hosting, and annual technical support.”

Money from the general fund will pay for the work that should take about four months to complete.

“The website is kind of old,” County Administrator Gary Bender said.

Bringing the website into the future has been talked about for approximately three years, he said. Once completed, improvements will include a dedicated section for forms and more vibrant colors among changes.

“We want to make it ADA compliant,” Bender said adding it might be difficult to find certain things on the site because of the layout.

Bill Mower, systems specialist with the county MIS department, said the site is “about 18 years old.”

“It’s going to be a total revision,” JoAnne Flynn, a systems specialist with the MIS department said.
