A Monroe County driver was cited for his involvement in a crash in Lehigh County. State police at Bethlehem said the incident occurred at 6:27 a.m. on Feb. 25 along Route 22 in Hanover Township.
Troopers said Gary W. Berrios Jr., 27, of Saylorsburg, driving a 2001 Ford F150 truck, and Jennifer M. Mimlitsch, 38, of Nazareth, driving a 2001 Subaru Forester, were both westbound. Troopers said Mimlitsch was in the left lane when Berrios moved to the left lane without clearance.
Mimlitsch applied her brakes and lost control of her vehicle, where she struck a concrete barrier.
After impact the Subaru continued southwest and struck the barrier a second time causing it to overturn and come to rest partially in the southern shoulder and partially in the left lane.
Mimlitsch and two juvenile passengers, boys ages 10 and 12, were all taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenburg, Allentown, for treatment of suspected minor injuries. The Subaru had to be towed.
Troopers said Berrios continued westbound without stopping. At 11:30 a.m. the investigating trooper was informed that Berrios’ mother had contacted the barracks concerning the incident. Troopers later spoke with Berrios. He was cited for careless driving.
