Fern Ridge state police report on incidents

State police at Fern Ridge reported investigating the following incidents.

• On Feb. 2 at 11:03 a.m. troopers were dispatched to the AutoZone Auto Part store located off Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Someone had damaged the front window of the store with an unknown projectile. The incident occurred overnight of Feb. 1.

• On Feb. 16 at 4:48 p.m. troopers were dispatched to a residence along Recreation Drive, in Chestnuthill Township, for a reported scam. During the investigation it was learned that an unknown person attempted to scam a 70-year-old woman from Effort, of $2,000. Troopers said while using her computer the woman received a message that her personal information had been compromised. The message had a fake phone number for Microsoft Word. When the victim called the number the unknown person related to her that in order to fix the problem, she needed to buy a gift card for $2,000. The victim realized that it was a scam and did not buy the card.

• A 40-year-old man from Acorn Lane, Jackson Township, Monroe County, reported on Feb. 20 that several days earlier he purchased a Concept Model D indoor rowing machine for $695 from an eBay seller. He never received the rowing machine.

• Troopers also reported that John Burrus, 81, of Route 115, Brodheadsville, Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County, has been charged with false alarms/dialing services. Trooper said his address had two previous alarms on Jan. 24 and 30, each time the residence was checked and everything was secured.

• On March 3 at 7:50 p.m. a 40-year-old man from Albrightsville, reported he noticed damage to the passenger side door of his 2017 Chevrolet. He noticed several scratches on the door upon leaving Valerio’s Restaurant, located off Route 903 in Penn Forest Township.

Several cameras used by the restaurant were checked but none were pointed in the direction of the vandalized vehicle.

• State police at Fern Ridge said troopers stopped a 2015 Honda Accord at 1:04 a.m. on Feb. 18 along Sugar Hollow Road at Harvest Hill Drive, in Chestnuthill Township, for a vehicle code violation.

The driver, Ashley McGlinch, 29, of Hanover Township, Luzerne County, was found to be driving under the influence. A passenger, Wesley Lanusse, 35, of Mount Pocono, was found to have an active warrant for his arrest.

Both were taken into custody and transported to the county prison in Snydersville. McGlinch submitted to a blood test and was later released. Lanusse was placed in the prison on the active warrant. Charges are pending.

• Troopers also reported a traffic stop of a 2000 Buick Sabre was made at 9:08 p.m. Feb. 21 along Lake Harmony Road at Route 903, in Kidder Township, Carbon County, for a vehicle code violation. The driver, a 55-year-old man from Long Pond, who troopers declined to identify, was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance. An active warrant was also found for the suspect and he was taken into custody. He was placed in the Monroe County prison on the warrant. He refused a chemical test. Charges will be filed.
