A Schuylkill County woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Wednesday afternoon.

State police at Frackville said the crash occurred at 2:22 p.m. at the intersection of Route 61 and East Darkwater Road in New Castle Township.

Troopers said Jessica L. Andruchek, 35, of Minersville, driving a 2013 Volkswagen Golf, pulled from East Darkwater Road onto Route 61 to go northbound without proper clearance and her vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta driven southbound on Route 61 by Arizona M. Rentschler, 18, of Schuylkill Haven.

Andruchek was pronounced dead at the scene. Rentschler was injured and taken to St. Luke’s-Geisinger Hospital, Orwigsburg. The northbound lanes were shutdown for a period of time, troopers said, until the scene was cleared.
