A Carbon County driver is facing multiple counts following an incident that occurred at 4:31 a.m. on Feb. 25 along Willowbrook Road in Allen Township, Northampton County.
State police at Bethlehem said George A. Szacska, 59, of Lehighton, was driving a 1985 GMC C7 truck southbound when the tailgate became detached and fell onto the roadway, laying across both southbound lanes. Szacska then came to a stop in the right lane. Tinesha M. Will, 19, of Allentown, driving a 2015 Dodge Dart, was also southbound and struck the tailgate laying on the road. After impact, the Dodge continued south about a tenth of a mile before stopping and blocking the right lane.
No one was injured. Both vehicles were towed.
Troopers said it was learned that Szacska had no insurance, no current registration and the registration plate on the vehicle was registered to another vehicle.
Troopers said he was issued four citations, including one of securing loads in vehicles.
