Carbon County court — DUI

A total of eight defendants in pending driving under the influence charges recently entered guilty pleas and were sentenced in Carbon County court.

President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II presided.

Leonard Rinehart, 34, of Northumberland, Northumberland County, was sentenced to serve a total of one to five years in the county prison. He was arrested on Aug. 21, 2020, by state police at Fern Ridge for DUI of a controlled substance. He was also charged on Aug. 21, 2020, with a felony count of contraband, but that was dropped in a plea deal with the DA’s office. He was sentenced on two counts each of DUI and false reports to law enforcement.

He was ordered to pay fines totaling $3,000, license suspensions totaling 36 months and was given credit for 182 days already served. He has been an inmate in the county prison since his arrest on the charges.

Derek M. Krapf, 33, of Tamaqua, was arrested on June 11, 2018, by Mahoning Township police, for DUI of a controlled substance.

He was sentenced to serve nine months to five years in the county prison, pay a fine of $1,500 and license suspended for 18 months.

He will begin the jail term on March 5 at noon and serve it on consecutive weekends of Friday to Sunday.

Joseph Nicholas Nemeth, 21, of Lehighton, was arrested on Jan. 14, 2020, by state police at Lehighton of DUI of a controlled substance.

He was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000 and license suspended for a year. The sentence runs concurrent with a sentence he is currently serving on drug charges. He was given credit for three days already served and paroled.

Shawna Michelle Graham, 28, of Tresckow, was arrested on June 29, 2018, by Lansford police, for DUI of a controlled substance.

She was sentenced to serve one to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000 and one year license suspension.

She was given credit for 38 days already served and paroled.

Derek P. Snyder, 34, of Las Vegas, Nevada, was arrested on Nov. 27, 2013, by state police at Lehighton, for DUI of a controlled substance.

He was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300.

Ronald L. West, 59, of Lehighton, was arrested on Feb. 15, 2020, by Lehighton police of DUI of a controlled substance. He was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000 and license suspended for 18 months.

He will begin the jail term on March 29 at noon.

Thomas Robert Alberino, 51, of Albrightsville, was arrested on June 27, 2020, by state police at Fern Ridge.

He was sentenced to serve 48 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $500 and one year license suspension.

He began the jail berm on Feb. 26 at 10 a.m.

Conlin Jay Gross, 58, of Lehighton, was arrested on May 30, 2020, by state police at Lehighton.

He placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole or probation.
