Local Roundup: Results from Feb. 26

Weatherly’s boys and girls both posted wins on Friday night.

The Wrecker girls went double overtime to defeat Marian, while the boys downed Lincoln Leadership Academy.

The Northern Lehigh girls also picked up a win, defeating Pen Argyl.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Weatherly-Lincoln Leadership

Weatherly finished off its regular season in convincing fashion, rolling to a 75-50 victory over Lincoln Leadership Academy.

Scotty Zoscin scored 13 of his 27 points in the second quarter as the Wreckers used a 27-13 period to jump out to a 17-point halftime lead.

The winners also received 26 points and seven assists from Antonio Colecio, while Ethan Broskoskie chipped in with eight. Zoscin also added eight assists.

Emmanuel Matos finished with 17 points to lead the Lions.

Weatherly is now 15-7, its most wins in a season since 2005-06 when it had 17.

Panther Valley-R. Clemente

Panther Valley dropped a 68-50 decision to Roberto Clemente Charter School.

The Panthers (4-16) received 22 points and 11 rebounds from Stephen Hood, while Chase Weaver added 10 assists.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Marian-Weatherly

Ashley James made all eight of her free throws in the second overtime to help Weatherly pull out a 63-57 victory over Marian.

James, who finished with a game-high 30 points, missed her first foul shot of the contest but then hit her next 16 in a row.

The Wreckers (3-16), who also received 13 points from Bethany Houser, led by seven points at halftime before the Fillies rallied to tie the game and force overtime. The two teams each scored eight points in the first OT before James secured the win at the line.

Carly Minchoff tallied 22 points to pace Marian (4-10), while Jacalyn Possessky added 12.

Northern Lehigh jumped out to a big lead and then barely held on to post a 45-41 victory over Pen Argyl.

The Bulldogs (7-6) hit five three-pointers in the first quarter to open up a 10-point lead, which swelled to 13 by halftime.

Emma Niebell and Aubrey Pollard both finished with 15 points to pace Nolehi, while Madison Seier chipped in with nine.

Meghan Hutter scored all nine of her points in the second half to help Whitehall rally for a 47-40 victory over Lehighton.

The Zephyrs trailed by seven after the first quarter and were still facing a deficit at halftime before starting their comeback.

Olivia Hines paced the winners with 16 points, while Hailey Miller scored 14 points to lead the Indians (9-11).

Lehighton also received 10 points from both Aaliyah Fisher and Alexis Soloman.
