Monroe County Republican Committee censures Toomey

The Monroe County Republican Committee unanimously voted in favor of a resolution to censure Sen. Pat Toomey for his actions during the recent impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump.

The action was taken during the committee’s Zoom meeting Thursday night.

Chairman Tom Whitehead said, “This is not an action that I, or this committee, take lightly. We are not a committee that is quick to engage in public disagreements with our fellow Republicans.”

He added, “Unfortunately, Sen. Toomey crossed a line that gives us no other option but to publicly address our belief that the senator has betrayed our country, our constitution, our party and our former president by his words and actions.”
