NCC offers recovery specialist program

Earn a CRS credential at Northampton Community College, Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 2 to May 27, 6 to 9 p.m., at the Fowler Family Southside Center, 511 E. Third St., Bethlehem.

The credential is for people in recovery from substance use disorders who wish to help others move into and through the recovery process as peer support. Completion of this course will facilitate the student toward Pennsylvania state certification as a certified peer recovery specialist. The curriculum is standardized throughout the state of Pennsylvania. The domains discussed are: recovery planning & collaboration, substance use knowledge, advocacy, ethical responsibility & professionalism, safety & self-care, communication, interpersonal and professional skills, and ethical competency.
