Several people were injured Friday evening in a head-on crash in Mahoning Township.

The accident occurred just after 6 p.m. along Route 443 in the 500 block of East Blakeslee Boulevard.

According to reports at the scene, a westbound sport utility vehicle crossed the roadway into the path of an eastbound vehicle. All of the victims were treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics before being transported to a nearby hospital. Mahoning Valley and Lehighton fire police maintained traffic control at the scene, shutting down the roadway. Mahoning Township police are investigating the incident.
