Lansford exhausts snow budget

Cleanup from the recent winter storms has cost Lansford Borough over $25,000.

Council members said Wednesday night that they have exhausted their budget for storm cleanup contractors in the days following the three-day storm which dumped over 2 feet in the area.

The borough hired two contractors, Peter J. Radocha and Sons, and Mark Boyle, at a cost of $100 per hour, council President Bruce Markovich said.

All storm cleanup going forward will be done by borough workers.

The total cost of snow removal for all storms has been $33,000. Markovich said it is likely that the borough will have to cut back on road paving projects in 2021 because the snow removal and paving are paid for from the same funds.
