The Carbon County Commissioners, on Thursday, acted on or discussed the following items:
• Approved the second extension to the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the county and AFSCME, AFL-CIO, District Council 87, Local 2483 through Feb. 5, 2021. The current agreement expired Dec. 31, 2020.
• Ratified a declaration of disaster emergency resolution in Carbon County due to the snow emergency on Feb. 1.
• Commissioner Rocky Ahner commended the county maintenance department on snow removal at the county buildings.
“They have to clean 200 spaces with cars parked where they’re not supposed to be and the hazard of combating the ongoing traffic on Route 209,” Ahner said. “Thank you for what you have done.”

• Changes of Status: Daniel Zeigler of Lake Harmon, from chief deputy trainee to chief deputy, sheriff’s office, effective Feb. 10; Clair C. Breiner of Weissport, Serena L. Smolczynski of Jim Thorpe and Christopher D. Gehres of Jim Thorpe, from part-time parking attendant to part-time parking/meter attendant, all effective Feb. 4; Rhianna L. Delich of Palmerton and Rachel M. Brunnquell of Effort, from county caseworker I to county caseworker II in Children and Youth, both effective Feb. 8.
