Man charged in assault case
A Reading man is in Schuylkill County Prison after police say he assaulted a woman in Shenandoah.
Shenandoah Borough Police responded to Lehigh Valley Hospital-East Norwegian Street Jan. 24 for an assault earlier in day at a Pioneer Road address. Upon arrival at the hospital, a nurse told the officer the victim was getting an ultrasound because she was “19 weeks pregnant” and the father, Kyree Harris-Seabury, punched her in the stomach.
The woman said Harris-Seabury, who lives on Alsace Road, Reading, was sending her constant Facebook messages asking whom she was with. He later came and entered house Saturday uninvited. She said Harris-Seabury was out on bail from previously strangling her.
Court documents show charges were filed earlier this month against him by borough police for strangulation, simple assault and terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another. Bail was set at $10,000.
Harris-Seabury took her phone and demanded she unlock it. He continued to ask about whom she was interacting with. After she refused, he grabbed her “by the neck and began to strangle her,” police said, something he repeated later in the morning after she woke up and found her phone that he took again.
He released his grip after she said she could not breathe. He then punched her in the face. She then went to bed upstairs.
The next morning she escaped after he strangled her again, but not before he “punched her in the stomach, threw her phone at her,” documents show.
Police say she had injuries to her neck, arms, lip and nose.
Harris-Seabury is charged with aggravated assault, strangulation, criminal trespass, unlawful restraint, recklessly endangering another person, intimidating a witness or victim and two counts of simple assault.
A preliminary hearing is set for 9:45 a.m. Feb. 25 in Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker’s courtroom. Bail was set at $100,000 straight cash.
