The preliminary hearing for a Coaldale man charged with the strangulation of a male juvenile has been continued.

The hearing for Gilbert Francisco Rivera, 35, was scheduled for Tuesday but has been set for 10:20 a.m. Feb. 23 in front of Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer.

Coaldale police charged him with strangulation, simple assault and endangering the welfare of children Nov. 27. Bail was set at $10,000 unsecured.

The juvenile, who had visible marks on his neck, walked into the Coaldale police department and told them what he said happened.
