Tamaqua news for Jan. 21, 2021

Penn State Extension

Penn State Extension has recently received a Growing Greener Grant from the Department of Environmental Protection to launch a Master Watershed Steward Program in Schuylkill County. With this new funding in place, Schuylkill residents can participate in this spring’s virtual training session.

The 2021 Master Watershed Steward virtual training program starts March 3 and continues through early June on Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. The course also includes hands-on field trips to be scheduled, COVID-19 permitting. The fee for the program is $125, which helps offset the costs for program materials and professional guest speakers. Scholarships are available for those with financial hardships; no financial documentation required.

Tune in to the open house session on Jan. 21 at 6:30 p.m. to help you learn more about the program. This open house session is listed under the Berks County program at the registration site: https://extensions.psu.edu/master-watershed-steward-open-house.

For more information about the Master Watershed Steward Program, please contact program coordinator Natalie Marioni at 610-378-1327 or nkm5342@psu.org.
