Pa. reports 26,000 vaccine doses administered since Wednesday

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed Thursday that there were 5,664 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 788,834.

There are 4,882 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 889 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.

As of 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, there were 260 new deaths reported for a total of 20,128 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

There are 80,719 individuals who have a positive viral antigen test and are considered probable cases and 637 individuals who have a positive serology test and either COVID-19 symptoms or a high-risk exposure.

There are 3,520,836 individuals who have tested negative to date.

Approximately 21,862 of our total cases are among health care workers.

Through Wednesday, 543,329 doses of the vaccine have been administered.

Local numbers

• Carbon County added 33 new cases for a total of 4,025. There are 113 deaths, three more since Wednesday.

• Lehigh County has 26,133 cases, an increase of 193, with six more deaths for a total of 637.

• Luzerne County has 21,195 cases, an increase of 153. There were eight more deaths, bringing the total to 560.

• In Monroe County, there are 58 new cases since Wednesday for a total of 7,940. Two more deaths were reported for a total of 234.

• In Northampton County, there are 180 additional cases, for a total of 21,337. There were eight additional deaths for a total of 535.
