Postmaster Harold W. Richards of Jim Thorpe has announced the appointment of William W. Hiller, 241 W. Broadway, Jim Thorpe, as assistant postmaster in the community. He succeeds Charles M. McGee, who retired recently.

Hiller is a son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hiller, his mother having been the former Clara Strittmatter.

A native of Mauch Chunk, he was born on the east side of town and graduated from Mauch Chunk High School in 1929, later serving in the Air Force during World War II.

He became a substitute mail carrier here in 1948 and became a regular carrier five years later.
