More than just political theater

On Dec. 4, 2020, Doyle Heffley along with other representatives from the Pennsylvania General Assembly wrote and signed a letter urging our U.S. senators and representatives “to object, and vote to sustain such objection, to the Electoral College votes received from the commonwealth of Pennsylvania during the Joint Session of Congress on Jan. 6, 2021.

Dan Meuser signed on, and in the wee hours of Jan. 7, stood up and affirmed that the Electoral College votes from the commonwealth of Pennsylvania should not be certified.

I would laugh if this was just political theater. But the weekend before a recorded phone conversation was released where the president of the United States strong-armed officials in the state of Georgia to rig the election and get him the votes he wanted.

I would laugh if this was just political theater, but on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2020, a seditious attack was made on our Capitol; pipe bombs, firearms, people killed.

So fancy words, their objections. But the bottom line is they wanted to steal the election and throw out the votes from every voter in Pennsylvania whether Republican, Democratic, Independent. Let me repeat - they tried to throw out the votes from every single one of us.

What gall, moxie, cojones, chutzpah, to want to disenfranchise everyone in Pennsylvania, yet they had no shame in claiming victory in their re-election bids. The same ballot. The same voting process. Even the Times News noted the absurdity of this.

Doyle Heffley and Dan Meuser need to resign. It is obvious they put politics above the needs of the constituents they serve.
