The Northwestern wrestling team earned a narrow victory over Wilson on Wednesday night, while Lehighton posted a win against Blue Mountain.

WRESTLING

Wilson-Northwestern

Northwestern edged Wilson for a 37-36 Colonial League victory.

The Tigers (1-2) won on Criteria D, as the team having won the greater number of matches, including forfeits, 7-6.

Eli Dellicker (138) and Mason Brensinger (152) had pins for Northwestern, while Buck Miller (172) and Isaiah Johri (285) won by decision.

Notre Dame of Green Pond dropped Palmerton for a 73-0 Colonial League win.

The Crusaders won all six contested bouts and utilized the bonus points from plenty of Bomber forfeits to earn a shutout victory.

The Bombers’ (0-2) Dennis Lombardi (145) and Jeremy Mooney (189) gave it their all to force their Crusader opponents to settle for three-point decision wins.

North Schuylkill won the last two contested bouts to seal a 36-31 Schuylkill League win over Tamaqua.

The Blue Raiders (1-2) won six out of 10 contested bouts, but surrendering a few forfeits helped the Spartans escape with a five-point victory.

Aaron Coccio (160), Reese Szabo (172), John Buday (215) and Nate Wickersham (285) all posted pins for Tamaqua, while Gabe Erbe added a major decision at 106 pounds.

Claudia Clark’s 20-point performance helped spark Mahanoy Area to a 57-40 victory over Tamaqua.

Allyson Babinsky poured in 14 points for the Golden Bears, while Hayley Moss hit double digits with 11 points.

Mckenna Meckes recorded a Blue Raiders’ high with 14 points.

Tamaqua drops to 2-1 on the season, while Mahanoy Area moves to 2-1.

Riverside-Jim Thorpe

Riverside got the best of Jim Thorpe for a 54-43 non-league win.

The Panthers’ Kylie Lavelle led all scorers with 23 points, while Kayla Rose and Emily Taylor followed with 12 and 11, respectively.

Leila Hurley led a trio of Olympians (2-2 overall) in double figures with 17 points. Teammates Leah Snisky and Skyler Searfoss both finished with 11 points.

Tamaqua-Blue Mountain

Blue Mountain scored a Schuylkill League sweep against visiting Tamaqua.

In the boys’ meet, the Blue Eagles earned a 113-58 victory, while in the girls’ meet, the hosts posted a 127-55 win.

Mia Jones recorded the Lady Raiders’ lone first-place finish in diving, while the Blue Raiders’ relay team of Jathan Krall, Nathaniel Kovalchick, Joey Lescavage and Ethan Amershek together won the 400-freestyle relay.
