Skyler Searfoss scored the 1,000th point of her high school career as Jim Thorpe defeated Blue Mountain in girls basketball action on Tuesday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Blue Mountain-Jim Thorpe

Skyler Searfoss scored a game-high 23 points, including the 1,000th of her career, as Jim Thorpe cruised to a 62-33 Schuylkill League victory over Blue Mountain.

Searfoss poured in 11 of her 23 points in the first quarter as the Olympians built a 27-7 lead. The Olympian junior achieved her milestone point on a layup early in the third quarter.

Leila Hurley added 18 points for Jim Thorpe (2-1; 2-0).

Abby Beam was the lone Blue Eagle to reach double figures with 10 points.

Lehighton had an eight-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, but Pottsville rallied for a 67-66 Schuylkill League win.

Hailey Miller paced the Indians with an 18-point performance. Taylor Bowman and Alexis Solomon added 12 points apiece, while Abigail Meckes chipped in with 10.

The Tides’ Julia Kowalski recorded a game-high 22 points.

Lehighton dropped to 0-2 overall and in the league.

After a close opening frame, the Bombers (1-0) rattled off 17 points in the second quarter to take control of the game.

The Bombers’ Brianna Moore netted a game-high 23 points, while Beth Morgan chipped in with 14 points.

Trinity Williams recorded a team-high 16 points for the Pirates.

Northwestern used a big second half to gain its first win of the season, defeating Pen Argyl 63-37 in a Colonial League contest.

Dylan Witkowski scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Tigers (1-2), who led by just four points at halftime. Justin Holmes contributed 14 points in the win, while Cayden Fitch added 11.

Colin McKeague tallied a team-high 19 points for the Green Knights.

After a close opening frame, the Bombers (1-1) turned a one-point lead into a 33-21 advantage by halftime.

The Bombers’ Kody Kratzer scored a game-high 18 points, while Owen Buck finished with 11.

Liam Carey had a team-high 15 points for the Pirates.

The Olympians held a five-point lead at halftime, but the Eagles used a strong second half to rally for the win

Sonny Ivey led Thorpe (0-3) with 15 points, while Caiden Hurley added 14.

For Blue Mountain, Kade Henniger had a team-high 13 points.

Tamaqua swam to a Schuylkill League sweep against Mahanoy Area.

The Blue Raiders cruised to a 113-25 win in the boys meet, while the Tamaqua girls came away with a 93-80 victory.

Nathaniel Kovalchick (200 Free, 100 Fly) and Joey Lescavage (200 IM, 500 Free) both won two events for Tamaqua.
