Sub shop is scene of Monroe burglary

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks are investigating thefts at area businesses.

• A burglary happened at 3:40 a.m. Dec. 20 at the Route 115 Sub Shop in Chestnuthill Township.

A 39-year-old man from Nazareth reported someone smashed the front glass doors and stole miscellaneous items from behind the counter.

Police said surveillance video on the business shows the burglars using a pry bar to cause the damage. They left the scene in a 1999-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee that had a black garbage bag for a rear back window.

Police are also investigating a retail theft/shoplifting incident that happened at 6:56 p.m. Dec. 26 at Kim’s Tobacco, 110 Shafer Road, Brodheadsville.

Police said a white man, wearing a black and white jacket with a black face mask entered the store attempting to purchase cigarettes. When a carton of cigarettes was placed onto the counter, the man took it and fled the store without paying for it, police said.
