More than the new year arrived yesterday for Shannon Mitchell of Lehighton. So did her second child.

Geneva Monique Alice Hunsicker, daughter of Shannon Mitchell and Cory Hunsicker of 125 Iron St., Lehighton, was born at 12:45 p.m. in the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, being the first newborn of the new year.

The new arrival weighed in at seven pounds, 6½ ounces, and is joined at home by a big brother, Damion Matthew Mitchell.

Grandparents are Carol and Allen Klump of Palmerton and Suzanne and Robert Hunsicker of Lehighton.

Diane Chalker, GHMH director of public affairs, said the family will receive numerous gifts that were donated to the hospital to help celebrate the occasion.
