Palmerton’s Serfass named to PFW 2A All-State Team

Palmerton’s Cole Serfass was named to the Pa. Football Writers’ Class 2A All-State Team on Tuesday.

The sophomore was recognized at the defensive athlete position.

He was third on the team with 65 total tackles and second in solo tackles with 38 to go along with four tackles for a loss and one fumble recovery.

The Blue Bombers (3-5) advanced to the District 11 Class 2A semis as the No. 3 seed, knocking off Pen Argyl 21-14 before falling to eventual runner-up Northern Lehigh 42-27.

Serfass was also a threat on offense, rushing for 964 yards - good for fourth-best in the area - and 11 touchdowns on 141 carries to go along with 230 yards passing and three scores. He also added five catches for 55 yards.

The sophomore was the only Times News area player to earn a nomination on the Class 1A, 2A or 3A teams, which were released Tuesday. The Class 4A, 5A and 6A teams will be released Wednesday.
