Alarm scares off would-be thief in Monroe

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks said the alarm on a car sounded when an intruder broke into it, scaring off the would-be thief.

The incident happened at 12:53 a.m. Dec. 14 at a residence on Shane Drive, Chestnuthill Township.

The victim told police someone used an unidentified tool to unlock his 2010 Subaru Legacy but the intruder ran away when the car’s alarm went off. Nothing was taken from the vehicle.
