NL’s Oertner steps down as cross country coach

Dave Oertner, Northern Lehigh’s cross country coach the past 39 seasons, has announced his resignation. Oertner took over the program in 1982 and finished with an overall record of 1012-751. He also had five of his teams win District 11 championships and had 13 teams qualify for states. Six of his runners captured PIAA medals, including Bob Chandler, who won a state title in 1992 and had third-place finishes in 1990 and 1991. Other state medalists included Reagan Pender (2019), Matt Oertner (2000), John Breininger (1999), Tim Pfluger (1995) and Lisa Dorshimer (1992). He also coached 10 league champions and eight district champs.
