Christmas may just arrive a little early for Lehighton residents upon word they likely won’t have to pay more on their municipal tax bills next year.
Borough council was presented with the 2021 general fund budget at a budget meeting last week, and there is no indication of a tax increase, according to borough Manager Nicole Beckett.
If council were to adopt a budget with no millage increase, it would leave the millage rate at 9.5 mills.
That would mean a homeowner with a home assessed at $50,000 would again pay $475 to the borough next year in taxes.
Council is scheduled to hold budget meetings Thursday, as well as on Dec. 21.
