Four people are left homeless after a fire destroyed a house in Gilberton Saturday.
The 10:35 a.m. house fire at 32 Draper St. had fire companies from Gilberton, Frackville, Mahanoy City and Shenandoah responding, according to an employee of the Schuylkill County Communications Center.
The fire was contained in about an hour and was upgraded to a working fire once Frackville Police responded. A state police fire marshal is investigating.
“The home and contents were destroyed,” Patty Daley, disaster responder with the Tri-County American Red Cross, said.
She said the home was not insured. The Red Cross provided food, clothing and shelter to Katie, Solomon, and daughters Aubrey and Kymber Peel, Daley said.
Gilberton Fire Chief Barry Brassington was not able to be contacted.
