License to carry permit applications are now available online at the Schuylkill County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

The link was posted last month.

“We did a soft opening on our Facebook page,” Barbara Szczyglak said.

She said the department is still tweaking the finishing touches.

“We get about 10 applicants a day,” she said, adding they get positive comments from those who apply about the ease of the service.

Applications are available on the Facebook page and available to print on the county website, co.schuylkill.pa.us.

Szczyglak said she didn’t know when residents could apply on the county website.

Applicants must still visit the sheriff’s office for a photo.

Szczyglak said in addition to the service being convenient, it can limit the number of people waiting in the courthouse to complete the process, which is important during the pandemic.

Applications are accepted Monday through Friday from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the sheriff’s office.
