4 more Schuylkill workers have COVID, 12 in quarantine

Four Schuylkill County employees have tested positive for COVID-19.

Doreen Kutzler, interim human resources director, announced the news Wednesday.

“Contact tracing has been completed by HR, and 12 additional employees who were exposed, unprotected, or awaiting results are in quarantine,” Kutzler said.

Additional information was not provided except to say medical information is kept confidential.

Numerous county employees have tested positive for the virus previously. President Judge William E. Baldwin also said today an inmate at the Schuylkill County Prison has the virus and is in isolation, the first such case of the virus in the prison. Visitation has not been permitted at the prison since the start of the pandemic.

The county has taken actions to reduce the spread of the virus to include contact tracing, consistent cleaning and disinfecting of common areas of the courthouse facilities, work spaces and others.
