State police at Schuylkill Haven
State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following incidents.
• On Nov. 4 at 8:31 a.m. troopers made a traffic stop along North Sillyman Street at Main Street in Cressona. A passenger in the vehicle, Thomas Steranko, 43, of Reading, was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Drug charges are pending.
• On Oct. 31 at 6:06 p.m. troopers responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash along Route 61 in North Manheim Township. As a result of an investigation a 43-year-old man from Schuylkill Haven, who troopers declined to identify, is facing a driving under the influence charge.
• On Nov. 8 at 6:55 p.m. troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash along Route 61 at Pottsville Street in North Manheim Township. As the result of an investigation a 43-year-old man from Reading, who troopers declined to identify, is facing DUI charges.
• On Nov. 10 at 3:09 p.m. troopers were dispatched to the Giant Market, located in the Cressona Mall, off Route 61, in North Manheim Township, for a report of a man hanging out of the trunk of a vehicle.
Troopers located the car and saw a man matching the description in the driver’s seat, passed out, with the keys in the ignition and the engine running and the doors locked. Multiple attempts were made to wake up the man.
He was identified as Jeffrey Roberts, 27, of Orwigsburg. He was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and failed field sobriety tests. He refused to submit to a blood test. Charges of driving under the influence were filed.
• Troopers reported the arrest of two teens on Nov. 8 at 1:12 p.m. after they had a confrontation with their mother. Troopers responded to a residence along Village Road in West Brunswick Township. A 49-year-old woman engaged in an argument with her two children, ages 16 and 13. The incident turned physical when the mother attempted to take the two teens’ cellphones.
The two teens were cited for harassment - physical contact.
