Reps. Rosemary Brown, R-Monroe/Pike, and Jack Rader, R-Monroe, announced that the Monroe Career and Technical Institute received a $14,800 state grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education to help provide area students more career-enhancing opportunities in high-demand occupations.

“I am very pleased to see state dollars used to bolster trade education, which in turn will create good, family-sustaining jobs for our residents and add strong economic value to our community,” said Brown.

“MCTI is an invaluable resource to our region, and these funds allow the school to ensure their programs and training equipment are up to date and students receive the best educational opportunities possible.”

“I believe more students should be encouraged to pursue a vocational and technical education that enables them to pursue family-sustaining employment right here in our region,” said Rader.

“I am pleased MCTI is sharing in this funding that will enable it to purchase the latest equipment for training students in high-demand occupations.”

There are more than 80 career and technical schools in Pennsylvania that offer a combination of classes and hands-on learning in programs approved by the state Department of Education.

Thousands of students earn industry credentials or certifications for local jobs in high demand, so they graduate on a path for success.
