Man charged with possession of marijuana, methamphetamine

A Hazleton pair have been charged with possession of marijuana and methamphetamine following a traffic stop.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by patrolman Joshua Silfee of the Weatherly Police Department in the case against Cristian Zamuido and Shelby Pavlick:

At 1:01 p.m. Nov. 22, Silfee stopped a black Mazda MX6 for a window tint violation, as well as the registered owner being a suspended driver.

Silfee smelled a faint odor of marijuana.

Silfee asked all passengers for identification, but they said they didn’t have any.

Silfee then gave them a notepad to write their names and dates of birth.

Zamuido, 19, had two warrants out of surrounding counties.

Silfee conducted a search and found a small container in Zamuido’s pants containing a bag with 0.2 grams of methamphetamine, and two bags containing 2.98 grams of marijuana total.

A blue bag was in the car, containing a needle, a scale, a tourniquet, tweezers, a straw with residue and two lighters. Zamuido said it was his.

One of the passengers, Pavlick, 27, gave Silfee police a false name, but Silfee found a bank card lying on the floor at her feet in the front seat so he was able to determine her real name.

Pavlick had a glass pipe for smoking and inhaling methamphetamine and a bag containing heroin.

Zamuido faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

Pavlick faces charges of use/possession of drug paraphernalia, false identification to law enforcement officer and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

Both are currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility, Zamuido in lieu of $35,000 monetary bail, and Pavlick in lieu of $25,000 monetary bail, and scheduled to have preliminary hearings Dec. 2 before District Judge Joseph D. Homanko Sr. of Weatherly.
