Police report on L. Towamensing crash

State police at Lehighton reported investigating a two-vehicle crash at 10:46 a.m. on Nov. 11 at the intersection of Forest Inn Road at Stoney Ridge Road in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County.

Troopers said Korey M. Spairana, 20, of Lehighton, was driving a 2007 Ford Escape southbound on Stoney Ridge Road while Dwight D. Hawk, 62, of Palmerton, was eastbound on Forest Inn Road, driving a 2014 Ford F550 truck. Spairana approached the stop sign at the intersection, stopped, then proceeded straight through the intersection to go onto Fireline Road.

Spairana did not see Hawk’s vehicle and his vehicle was struck on the passenger side. Spairana and passenger, Ethan J. Dooley, 18, of Palmerton, sustained suspected minor injuries but did not require immediate medical attention. Spairana and another passenger, Hannah F. Wollweber, 19, of Tamaqua, and Hawk, were not injured.

The Escape was towed. Aquashicola Fire Company volunteers assisted at the scene.

Troopers cited Spairana for a stop sign violation.
