PALMERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL

Palmerton Borough Council took the following action on Thursday:

• Adopted a resolution supporting the application for funding for safety equipment to establish a Palmerton Carcinogen Awareness and Reduction to Exposure Program for members of the Palmerton Fire Department. The grant application is to the Pennsylvania Local Share Act Funding Program in the amount of $135,995.

• Awarded a quote to PenTeleData in the amount of $7,308 for equipment and installation of a camera system for the bandstand. Councilman Andrew Hollywood abstained because he is a Pencor employee.

• Hired Christal Benninger as a part-time office staff employee at the rate of $12 an hour, to work about 20-25 hours per week.

• Agreed to advertise for the public works supervisor position. Hollywood abstained again due to his employment.

• Accepted the letter of retirement from Leroy Scherer, laborer with the Public Works Department.

• Approved a request from the Bach and Handel Chorale to hold a Christmas Concert in the borough park from 3-5 p.m. Dec. 5.
