A Nesquehoning man was charged after stabbing a vehicle’s tire during a political rally last month.
According to an affidavit filed by Nesquehoning police, on Oct. 24, Joshua Wade Hineline, 30, of the unit block of West High Street, called police to inform them that he had been in an altercation with multiple vehicles traveling along Route 209 and may have damaged one of them. The vehicles were part of a parade supporting President Donald Trump’s campaign.
Hineline said his girlfriend was driving and could not pull out onto Route 209 because of the parade and he had tried to stop traffic.
A few minutes later, one of the victims called police and said that she was in her father’s Jeep with her fiance and father as part of the parade when a man entered the road and began jumping on front of vehicles.
When the Jeep tried to drive around him, Hineline stabbed the passenger side front tire with a knife. Police also watched a video that was recorded by a parade onlooker showing the incident.
The cost to repair the Jeep was estimated at over $600.
A second report from another parade participant said that the same person dented the driver’s side front fender of their 2015 Jeep Wrangler as they tried to drive around him. The estimated cost for the repair to that damage is over $1,200.
Hineline admitted that he was the man in the video and added that his emotions got the best of him during the incident.
He faces charges of two counts each criminal mischief - damage to property, disorderly conduct and obstruction of highway.
