Lehighton to hold virtual Christmas in the Park event

The lights will still shine bright on Lehighton this holiday season.

Only this time, the fifth annual Lehighton Christmas in the Park will offer a live virtual tour of each tree.

The Lehighton Borough Parks and Recreation Committee has announced the event will be held Dec. 4-6.

On Dec. 4, and continuing that weekend, the trees will slowly be decorated and lit.

By the evening of Dec. 6, the entire park will be illuminated and ready for visitors.

While there will be no public event or grand lighting moment, there will be a gradual illumination of the park.

The live virtual tour of each tree will then take place at 7 p.m. Dec. 6 on the “Lehighton Borough Parks and Recreation Board” Facebook page.

Anyone who would like to adopt a tree/wreath for the event should fill out a form and send to the address provided with their payment.

Adoptions will be offered along the Sponsor Row on Constitution Avenue, and those who adopt a Sponsor Row Tree will receive advertising on the borough’s social media accounts, as well as in print and TV news releases.

Another option is to adopt and decorate the eight wreaths adorning the park fountain, however, this option won’t have electricity.

Adoptions will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until a total of 150 trees are adopted.

Anyone with questions may contact Clark Ritter at 570-688-5071 or Autumn Abelovsky at 610-730-0041.
