HARRISBURG (AP) - The Pennsylvania House Democrats’ campaign committee has nearly doubled its Republican counterpart’s spending in the last four months, with majority control of the legislative chamber on the line.

The House Democratic Campaign Committee raised and spent more than $12 million in the past four months as the party hopes to pick up a net of nine seats and control of the gavel for the session that starts in January.

The House Republicans’ campaign arm raised $6 million and spent $7.2 million during the reporting period, which ran from June 23 to Oct. 19.

House Republicans have maintained majority control in the chamber for a decade, and with it the power to decide which bills get voted on.

The House is currently in Republican hands, 110 to 93, after Democrats picked up a net of 11 seats in the 2018 election.
