Tamaqua arrests

Tamaqua police reported on the following arrests made by officers.

Matthew Hibbler, 18, of 115 W. Rowe St., Tamaqua, is facing charges of aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, harassment and disorderly conduct for an incident on Oct. 8.

At 5:30 p.m. on that date police received a report of a unconscious male laying in a pool of blood along West Rowe Street. On scene officers found the male being treated by Tamaqua EMS personnel. He was bleeding from the head and facial area. He was then transported to St. Luke’s Miners Hospital, in Coaldale.

While being treated the victim told officers that he and Hibbler had an altercation in which the suspect had struck him several times causing him to fall to the ground. Police said they were also able to secure a video from security camera. It showed Hibbler striking the victim twice with the victim attempting to flee and Hibbler going after him and striking him a third time with the victim falling to the ground.

Police said the victim suffered multiple injuries. Police also noted the victim was later transferred to St. Luke’s Hospital in Fountain Hill.

Amanda Larae Sarver, 33, of 420 W. Broad St., Tamaqua, is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest and retail theft for an incident on Oct. 7.

At 5:26 p.m. on that date police were dispatched to the Family Dollar Store, at 125 Center St., for a report of a retail theft. On scene officers made contact with the defendant. Sarver in the entranceway. She was instructed to go to the counter where the manager of the store was present.

While at the counter police found an item she failed to pay for. Also, police began to check her belongings and located a brown wallet. Inside the wallet was found a orange bag containing methamphetamine. Officers then told Sarver she was under arrest and to put her belongings down. She refused after being told several times to do so. When police attempted to take her into custody, She refused to comply but eventually was taken into custody.

A further search of Sarver’s belongnings revealed a blue bag which contained two marijuana pipes, one glass methamphetamine pipe, multiple empty baggies commonly used to store and hold narcotics. Additional meth was also found as well as other controlled substances including clonazepam.

The value of the stolen item was $1.06.
