State police at Schuylkill Haven

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following incidents:

• A Schuylkill Haven man is facing charges following a one-vehicle crash.

Mateo Rivera, 21, of Schuylkill Haven, is facing a charge of driving under the influence of a controlled substance. He was arrested at the site of a crash on Oct. 5 at 10 p.m. at Dieberts Valley Road and Berne Drive, in South Manheim Township. He admitted to troopers to smoking marijuana earlier in the day prior to the crash. Troopers also observed in plain view a small amount of marijuana, two firearms with magazines and numerous amounts of ammunition.

Rivera was also involved in another incident. On Oct. 8 at 4:19 p.m. troopers responded to Schuylkill Gun Works in Schuylkill Haven, for a reported theft. It was determined that Rivera stole a Glock ammunition magazine valued at $25. He was charged with retail theft.

• On Oct. 17 at 6:24 p.m. troopers conducted a traffic stop along Maple Street at South Second Street in Cressona borough. A front seat passenger, John Lorah, 41, of Saint Clair, was found in possession of about one ounce of crack cocaine, about 1.5 inch strip of LSD, methamphetamine, marijuana, THC wax and drug paraphernalia/packaging material.

Lorah was arraigned before a district judge on drug charges and committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post $20,000 straight cash bail.

• On Oct. 5 at 12:10 a.m. troopers were dispatched to a crash in the area of 415 Market St., Port Carbon borough. On scene the driver, a 32-year-old man from Port Carbon, who troopers declined to identify, was found under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI.

• On Oct. 9 at 4:38 p.m. troopers were dispatched to Chestnut Road in West Brunswick Township for a domestic incident. Through an investigation it was determined that a 44-year-old man from Orwigsburg, slapped a 52-year-old woman, also from Orwigsburg, several times in the face. The man, who troopers declined to identify, was cited for harassment - physical contact.

• Troopers conducted a traffic stop at 12:50 a.m. on Sept. 29 along Route 61 in North Manheim Township. The driver, Thomas Ferhat, 32, of Cumbola, was found to be driving while impaired and placed under arrest for driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

• Williams Skeans, 33, of Mahanoy City, is facing charges in two related incidents. On Oct. 6 at 8:44 p.m. troopers said Skeans and Georgia Skeans, 43, of Minersville, were together at a location along Route 61 in Pottsville, committing multiple retail thefts. Upon locating the two it was learned the female had an active protection from abuse order against the man.

William Skeans was taken into custody for violating the PFA order. He was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia when he placed drugs in the back of the state police cruiser when taken into custody.

• A 44-year-old man from Orwigsburg, who troopers declined to identify, was charged with harassment - physical contact, for an incident on Oct. 13 at 5:14 p.m. at a residence along Chestnut Street in West Brunswick Township. The victim is a 52-year-old woman from Orwigsburg.
