Hazleton state police report on area crashes

State police from Hazleton report on the following crashes:

• A crash occurred at 1:24 p.m. Oct. 12 at the intersection of Stockton Mountain Road and Club 40 Road in Hazle Township. Troopers said Emely A. Hernandez, 19, of Hazleton, was driving a 2003 Honda Accord southbound on Club 40 Road while Anthony K. Lobello, 34, of Weatherly, was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado truck westbound on Stockton Mountain Road.

Hernandez failed to clear the intersection before making entry onto Stockton Mountain Road. Her vehicle struck Lobello’s truck. After impact the Silverado left the road and hit a utility pole.

No one was injured. Both vehicles had to be towed. Hernandez was cited for stop signs and yield signs violation.

• On Sept. 13 at 6:26 p.m. a hit-and-run crash was reported in the parking lot of the Walmart store along Airport Road in Hazle Township. A 2020 Chrsyler Pacifica owned by Carlie A. Starr, 28, of Tamaqua, was parked in a space in the lot when another driver, pulling out of a parking space next to the Pacifica, struck a shopping cart which in turn struck the Pacifica. The other driver then fled the scene. Damages were minor to the Pacifica.

• State police at Hazleton said at 11:37 p.m. on Oct. 14 troopers responded to a one-vehicle crash along North Lehigh Gorge Road in Foster Township. During the investigation it was determined the driver, a 38-year-old man from Weatherly, who troopers declined to identify, was DUI of alcohol or a controlled substance.
