Commander Francis Mongi of the Babinetz-Horowski AMVETS Post 83, Lansford, announced the Distinguished Citizens Award for 1976 will be presented to Michael Kalny of Lansford. The award committee was unanimous in its selection for the 13th annual award presentation.

Kalny, known by intimate friends as “Farina,” has been active in civic affairs, being the president of the Lansford Improvement Committee and the parish council of St. John Slovak Lutheran Church, a position he has held for 11 years, and a committee member of the Lansford Elks Lodge.

He is the general manager of Cinderella Clothing Industries’ Lansford plant.
