Steve Christ, a 27-year old Hometown native and Tamaqua Area alumnus, graduated from the University of South Carolina with a doctoral degree in clarinet performance.
Christ’s dissertation focused on saving K-12 music program budgets by extending the life span of wind instrument reeds from 2-3 weeks to 13 months using a new, patent-pending technique. While at the University of South Carolina, Christ played with the South Carolina Philharmonic, started an engineering firm to begin producing his reed-stabilizing device, and was the graduate assistant for the clarinet studio.
Christ currently teaches clarinet and woodwind methods at South Carolina State University and freelances in the greater Columbia area.
