State Police at Hazleton report incidents

State police at Hazleton reported on several incidents:

• On Sept. 27 at 4:14 p.m. troopers were called to the Walmart store located along Airport Road in Hazle Township, Luzerne County, for a retail theft. Troopers said Brooke Begole, 41, of McAdoo, failed to scan items at the self checkout area. The item totaled $121.

• On Aug. 19 at 7:10 p.m. troopers were dispatched to Boscov’s Department store in the Laurel Mall, Hazle Township, for a retail theft. Police said Crystal Biles, 40, of Weatherly, attempted to steal various items totaling $595.28.

• On Sept. 26 at 2:48 a.m. troopers conducted a traffic stop of a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban along Tresckow Road at Banks Avenue in Banks Township, Carbon County. During the course of the stop the driver, a 38-year-old woman from Kelayres, gave permission for a vehicle search. Suspected crystal methamphetamine was found in her purse. She was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was then taken to the Luzerne County prison in Wilkes-Barre on an active warrant for burglary. Troopers declined to identify the suspect.

• On Sept. 27 at 2:25 a.m. a traffic stop of a 2009 Nissan Rogue was conducted along East Arthur Gardner Parkway and Powell Drive in Hazleton. It was determined that the driver, a 29-year-old man from McAdoo, who troopers declined to identify, was under the influence of alcohol and incapable to safe driving. He was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI. The DUI charge is pending test results.
