Carbon County court — ARDs
Five people in pending criminal cases were placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Monday by Judge Joseph J. Matika.
If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program, their record will be wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.
Scott Coll,
24, of Drums, Luzerne County, was placed for a year on a charge of simple assault.
He was arrested on July 20 by Weatherly police for an incident at a residence along Lauderburn Avenue, with a female and his brother as the listed victims.
He was assessed $450 for the cost of the program and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, attend and successfully complete a anger management course and have no contact with the victims.
Gavin David Grondahl,
19, of Doylestown, Bucks County, was placed for 6 months on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on Jan. 30 along the turnpike in Kidder Township following a traffic stop by state police at the Pocono barracks. He was stopped for speeding.
He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.
Januel Gil Martinez,
20, of Hazleton, was placed for 18 months on charges possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested following a vehicle stop along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township on July 12 by state police at Fern Ridge.
He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 75 hours of community service.
Dariel Marissa Thompson,
28, of New Ringgold, was placed for 2 years on a theft charge filed by Franklin Township police. She was charged with taking money from the Square One Market while an employee at the business.
She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, make restitution to the victim of $1,406.78 and stay off the Square One property.
Joseph Erskine,
22, of Jim Thorpe, was placed for 6 months on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was arrested on Feb. 5 by state police at Lehighton following a traffic stop along Little Gap Road at Forest Inn Road in Lower Towamensing Township.
He was assessed $650 and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.
Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
