A Palmerton man has been charged in the death of a woman following a shooting Monday afternoon in Lower Towmamensing Township.

Pennsylvania State Police Lehighton barracks said that members were dispatched to a home at 3955 Forest Inn Road, Aquashicola, for a report of a woman with a gunshot wound.

Through the investigation, it was determined that Keith Robert Else, 38, discharged a handgun that struck and killed the victim, Laura Jean Else, 31.

Carbon County District Attorney Mike Greek approved charges of criminal homicide and recklessly endangering another person against Keith Else, who remains incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility.

According to emergency reports, a woman was flown from the Palmerton High School lot to a trauma center.

Police said the case was an isolated incident and there is no threat to surrounding communities.

Palmerton ambulance and Lehighton paramedics assisted at the scene.
